Mobile for business: what features are really worth your attention

mobile business

Hey smartphone users!

Did you know that Americans check their phone on average 52 times per day? With over 80% of users being either smartphone or tablet owners, and with more than half of team interactions occurring via mobile apps, more and more businesses are optimizing for mobile and focusing on mobile-friendly marketing at an increasing rate.

And don’t forget that mobile apps are especially popular with millenials — the largest generation in the U.S. labor force — as most of them would prefer to check on a process, close a deal, sign an invoice, etc. on the go.

If your plans don’t include mobile, your plans are not finished.

Why a mobile-first strategy matters

These days, going mobile is becoming less like a choice, and more like a requirement.

For a business owner, going 100% mobile might sound difficult to implement.

But still, you might want to consider a few of the following mobile-first strategies:

  • Mobile-oriented document management solutions allow your workforce to access information from anywhere even if offline. It’s always there whenever you need to ask for advice, check on a process, approve a purchase, e-sign an invoice, etc.
  • Mobile apps boost productivity and minimize various document-related issues. For instance, with the Kiosk Mode feature, every document edited or signed is automatically saved and archived, so that you don’t have to waste time organizing paperwork.
  • Going mobile means you’re not only saving money, but time too. Most mobile apps offer free plans and trial periods for both individuals and enterprises,  while comprising the same set of features as their desktop-based counterparts.

Technology is ever changing, and so is user behaviour

Like any other technology, electronic signatures are evolving with time, offering more and more opportunities for paperless document verification. But the truth is, it’s consumers who are shaping the market, not technologies.

Due to the wide variety of e-signature software available on the market, users are turning their attention towards quick, intuitive, lightweight, flexible and easily-navigable services.

More features = more usability

Mobile phones are less and less used “just for phone calls”. Users who are constantly on the go — salespeople, insurance agents, real estate agents, event managers, etc. — would like to have access to as many features as possible without switching between platforms/devices.

Here are some of the features that should be taken into account:

  • It’s important that a user is able to access any document from his/her mobile device without delay. This includes importing files from Email, Google Drive, Egnyte, Dropbox, Salesforce, etc., as well as storing documents in the cloud, archiving and exporting them in one tap.
  • Sometimes there’s a paper document which requires e-signing with no scanner available. This is when it’s nice to have the option to capture a photo of the document with your phone’s camera and convert it into an editable PDF.
  • Collect signatures in the quickest way possible. Set the signing order and assign roles for multiple signers.
  • Automate workflows and avoid refilling the same document over and over again. Generate templates of your most used documents and reuse their layout as many times as needed.
  • Stay informed on who signed your document, when and from what device with the document’s Audit Trail feature.

Start using your smartphone as a mobile office, test the features and see for yourself how a mobile-first strategy can easily handle the specific demands of your business.
